No judgement and no pressure. Your situation is looked at properly, and the lender makes the call.
Questions people ask
Straight answers. Anything else, the team will go through it with you.
Can I apply if I have had credit problems?
Yes, you can apply. Defaults, missed payments or a thin credit file are looked at case by case by the lender, alongside your income and what you can afford. Lending criteria apply and the lender makes the decision. Read the guide.
How much income do I need?
You need $500 or more a week coming in. Wages, salary, self-employed, casual and part-time income all count. If your only income is Jobseeker Support, it is usually under $500 a week, so this is unlikely to be the right fit yet. More on income.
Can I apply on a learner or restricted licence?
Yes. A learner, restricted or full New Zealand licence lets you apply. You upload a photo of it as part of the application. Learner licence guide.
Do I need a deposit?
You can apply with or without a deposit. If you have one, tell us in the application and the lender takes it into account.
What do I need to apply?
Your driver licence, a New Zealand mobile number for a quick code, and proof of income: recent payslips, or three months of bank statements if your work is casual or self-employed. Full checklist.
What does it cost to apply?
Nothing. Applying is free. We are paid a referral fee by our finance partner when a loan is completed, and that fee does not increase your interest rate. See our disclosure.
Is Kiwi Car Finance a lender?
No. Kiwi Car Finance is a referral service. We pass your application to our finance partner and its finance providers, and they assess it and make every lending decision.
