Kiwi Car Finance helps New Zealand drivers apply for car finance, including people on a benefit, with credit issues or on a learner licence. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under New Zealand privacy law.

Who we are

Kiwi Car Finance is a lead-generation referral service based in New Zealand. It operates under the Kiwi Car Finance name and any other brand listed on our home page, and it collects your information through this site and those brand sites. Contact: info@kiwicarfinance.co.nz.

What we collect

When you submit our pre-approval form, we collect your name, email, mobile number, employment type, monthly income range, vehicle preferences, and a photo of the front and back of your driver licence. After submission, we'll request payslips OR three months of bank statements via a secure link. We also record submission timestamp and which ad variant brought you to the site.

How we use your information

Your application is passed to 1 Stop Motors and its finance providers, who assess it and decide whether they can arrange finance for you. We only use your information to deliver your pre-approval and to contact you about your application. We do not sell or share your details with dealers or third-party marketing lists.

Bank statements and payslips

With your consent, 1 Stop Motors may collect your bank statements through a secure link sent after your application. They are used solely to verify your income pattern and assess affordability. We retain them for the duration required by NZ financial record-keeping regulations.

Credit checks and your consent

By submitting an application you authorise Kiwi Car Finance to pass your details to 1 Stop Motors and its finance providers, and you authorise 1 Stop Motors to collect and use your information, including your bank statements and a credit check, to assess your creditworthiness. A credit check may be recorded on your credit file. We, 1 Stop Motors and its finance providers handle your credit information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020.

Identity documents

To complete an application you need to provide a clear photo of the front and back of your driver licence. We collect these images to verify your identity and to meet our finance partners' identity and anti-fraud requirements. Licence images are transmitted securely, shared only with a finance partner on our panel assessing your application, and stored securely. We retain them for seven (7) years in line with New Zealand financial record-keeping requirements, then delete them. We do not use them for any other purpose.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the information we hold about you. Email info@kiwicarfinance.co.nz. We respond within 20 working days.

Retention

We retain application data for seven (7) years in line with NZ financial record-keeping requirements.

How we're paid

Kiwi Car Finance is free for you to use. We receive a referral fee from our finance partners when a loan you apply for is completed. This fee does not increase your interest rate or the cost of your loan.

Cookies and analytics

Once launched, Kiwi Car Finance will use Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics to understand site usage. We also use the Meta Pixel to measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform, including when an application is submitted. These tools use cookies and anonymous identifiers. You can opt out via your browser's cookie settings.
